CompatibleOne 2013 & Beyond Workshop, July 11, Paris

The 5th CompatibleOne 2013 & Beyond Workshop has been held on Thursday the 11th of July from 9:00AM til 5:30PM  at Institut Telecom, rue Barrault Paris Room C49.

This is the report of this workshop.

Since February 2013, CompatibleOne(CO) is operating its transformation by executing the CompatibleOne Community Plan. After less than two years of intense development, CompatibleOne has developed a breakthrough technology and attracted interest and support from across the cloud computing industry, all over the world. It is time now to leverage these results. Now the goal of this new milestone "2013 & Beyond"  is to lay the foundations for the future development and industrialisation of the technology by a self-sustained community.

Project management

Next Step

  • The Flight Plan has now a first destination: CARTHAGE (TUN)
  • This destination is scheduled to be reached on the 10th of October 2013
  • See JIRA  for the flights planned for this destinations


Asma introduced SecLA (PDF) to extend CORDS and SLAM with security categories. This proposal has been well perceived and accepted as a work to be done.

Action: Asma to organize a working group on this topic to explore all possibilities and potential overlaps with existing model. This working group will be composed of Asma, Patrice, Vincent, Yann, Jamie.


Roberto introduced all general aspects of Aeolus project (PDF), then Jakub described in more details Zephyrus, the tool produced by Aeolus (PDF). This presentation attracted lots of interest from the CompatibleOne contributors. It has been decided to explore the usage of the Aeolus technology with a CompatibleOne complex use case.

Action: a one-day workshop to be organised by JPL and Roberto to share information and define a use case.


Nick Barcet did a very detailed presentation of Ceilometer (PDF). He answered to most of the questions the CompatibleOne contributors asked about the way to consume properly information collected by Ceilometer. We must thank Nick for the transparency of his presentation concerning pros and cons.

Action: a use case is in progress with eNovance to demonstrate how CO may expose metering from a cloud broker perspective

Other actions taken during the meeting

  • Vincent to work with Owen to assess the quality and usability of CO Debian Package
  • Vincent, Yann and Gregoire to work on identifying ID Management / SSO convenient for CO
